An interesting article in the July 2008 issue of Security Management Magazine highlighted the recent release of an updated Emergency Incident Rehabilitation manual by The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA). It collaborated with the International Association of Fire Fighters on the project.
Emergency incident rehabilitation aims to ensure that the mental and physical well being of workers at emergency scenes does not deteriorate to the point of affecting their safety. Some major issues are dehydration and fatigue.
The manual takes a look at topics such as operational and weather issues, the use of technology for protection, and human physiology.
