| As a leading provider of quality security guards, ISS is dedicated to creating innovative approaches that allow us to improve our operations. The most recent example of this philosophy is our new online training program, which commenced in September 2006.
The online forum, designed as a more flexible alternative to standard training programs, features much of the same content, addressing the areas of safety, leadership, diversity and harassment. Safety sessions prepare trainees to handle situations involving fire and chemical safety, hazardous response and communication, emergency response and blood borne pathogens. Meanwhile, leadership training will address issues such as team problem solving, employee performance and goal setting and conducting performance reviews. In addition, guards will learn how to create a discrimination-free workplace and prevent sexual harassment, as well as the essential points of the Americans with Disabilities Act and lawful hiring and firing.
As standard training methods will still be available, ISS operations managers will discuss training needs with our clients, as well as any necessary equipment, such as computer access or email, in order to develop an appropriate training curriculum. If training will include the online format, the officer completes the online registration and begins training during down time at the facility.
In addition to members of the ISS management team, 13 guards are currently enrolled in the program. Steven Anderson, an ISS officer serving at Jim Beam in Kentucky, recently completed the program, serving as our first graduate. |
